CJ7 with a 304 or 360 and manual gearbox???
« on: October 28, 2016, 10:04:23 PM »

Does anyone out there have a CJ7 with a manual box in it?

In a number of weeks and having spent the equivalent of a small countries national debt I should have my 360 back and planning to mate it to an AX15 Cherokee box and wondered if anyone has done this and can help with some prop shaft measurements

I'm still looking at the option of putting in a standard 3 speed manual box if I have to and want to know.....

Were all prop shafts in CJ7s all the same length regardless of engine??

I ask this as I have a GM151 but would think a 4.2 engine would mount to a gearbox in the same position as the 304/360? If so it will dramatically reduce the install time and if not I'll have to change the shafts anyway so will stick to plan A

Thanks in advance.

I have a 360 mated to a T150 and Dana 20, it's great no issues. I have converted to a hydraulic clutch though. I have a T18 that I may swap in at some stage in the future but it requires a different input shaft as it's from a J20.
