CREE Lights
« on: November 17, 2016, 06:45:54 PM »

Hi All
I am seriously considering x2 Cree lights for the Wrangler.
One above the windscreen and one on the front bumper. Anyone had this done = looking for advice re model to buy etc and any problems identified.
I have the windscreen light surround and bumper light brackets.
Appreciate any guidance.

I have one fitted behind the grille on my TJ and also LED headlights and the improvement of vision driving during the dark is unbelievable!!! You will not regret fitting them!

Make sure it's Cree. :) I wasn't paying attention, and ended up with a 30" epistar bar,, they're weak compared to Cree, I could see the difference as soon as I hooked it up to the test battery I had. Junk the stock ally mount brackets, make your own in steel. You can mount them lower, and allows for a tack weld on the mount bolts to keep them safe from sticky fingers. :)

Usual US set up of choice is a 20 or 30" on the bumper and a 50" on the roof for wranglers. I had a 20/30/40 set up that also work.
As a guide,
20" Cree is more than enough for most needs.
60" Cree is bloody hilarious amount of light.
90" Cree is way OTT, and hazardous for other road users.
I've seen some US wranglers with 200"+ of bars ! Worse part was, they where RI bars, that DON'T use Cree chips, and they'll relieve you of circa $1500 for a 50" bar !

I had the 20" mounted fairly low in my Patrol Stu and as the others have said...turns night into day.

The pic doesn't do justice, plus my screen was filthy ! lol This is 60" (20" double row & 40" singe row) and they have a 1km throw. :)

LED H4 replacements are a worthy spend, but look for ones with and emitter on each side. Ideally you want the emitters to be slightly staggered, like the filaments in a halogen bulb. :)

There's no need for this sorta thing, and I've seen worse. :)

Theres also absolutely no fuckin need for this ! lol 60" was OTT.

Doesn't mater how shinny your bonnet is, NO light flare from LEDs. :)
You can see the dust on mine. lol
