heads

what's the mileage ? what kind of head is it ? the first batch didn't have valve stem seals and the replacements that can be bought from the VM specialist now have the modification and have stem seals. If they dont have the seals then i would say a head has gone porus. these had a reputaiton of oging porus after 60k miles and that is engine based no just for the jeep since they were fitted to rovers, fords, and vauxhal

Heads for sure. Send it down the auctions and get a nice reliable 4.0

Ist die wasserpomope kaputt?

Ok the heads have been changed (new ones ?) so did you get the correct head gasket ? normally they are individual but if you go for the one piece gasket then the end support plates need to be machined to suit otherwise the heads will not be torqued correctly. I assume the block was cleaned and the head bolt threads cleaned out so they are not hydrolocking. But either way the only way bubbles can get into the coolant is by a leaking head gasket. Have you retorqued the bolts ?
by some K-Seal and see if the problem stops.

Hi Dave
Had the same prob on my xj 4.0l. turned out that the inpeller on the watter pump had all but dissintegrated.. changed pump all fine again .. seems there was enough impeller left when engine not under too much strain and temp stayed ok ish .. when driven harder overheat .. I went through the change the thermostat and sensors also .
hope this helps
