Title: Thermostat
Post by: Anonymous on August 26, 2005, 08:44:07 AM
Right, am having a go at the thermostat today! Unfortunatly I have already rounded one of the bolts, ather 3 came out no problem!Once i have sussed how to get the rounded bolt out, what I need to know is there any procedure I need to follow putting it back together, or is it just put new thermostat in and fill up with water?

new gasket or liquid gasket between the stat housing and make sure you put it in the right way round

Make sure the heater is on full heat when you re-fill.... that's often forgotten at this time of year and gives you a HUGE airlock in the system....

Find out about bleed valves as well, not sure if you have them or not....

Little tip.... Mix some anti freeze and water (50/50 is what I usually do) and unless you need to drain the whole system, just top up with the mix....

Take the drill to it.

.....always an option!!

I've also found that if you can grab the offending item with a pair of fencing pliers (discovered in desperation!!) that (as long as there is room) you can usually get enough grip to get the f***er out!
