Title: Grand Cherokee V8 4.6 1999 Funny Noise
Post by: akabigm on June 26, 2009, 11:25:12 AM
Got a grinding type noise when braking, :icon_confused: but seems to not be  from the brakes, they have been checked, replaced and are OK, noise seems to be in middle of car ie underneath gearbox, doesn't cause a problem at the moment but garage and I are reluctant to dismantle lots of bits, anyone any ideas of source ? Appreciate

If its a sort of ratcheting noise as you come to a stop, it's the solenoids in the transmission resetting for the next gearshift.

Thanks for replies, I've just hade Old Man Emu shocks and springs fitted and handbrake cable and bits replaced and now it doesn't make a noise !
