Description: Fozzy Locker
Fozzy locker is a twist to the standard Lincoln Locker. Apparently made popular by a guy named Fozzy. The Fozzy Locker is a cheap, removable version of the "Lincoln Locker" where the teeth of the side gears of the spider gear set are partially filled by welding material.
Some people who have created a Fozzy locker weld up the valley between 2 adjacent teeth on the side gears as pictured to the right. Welds are done 180 apart. Both side gears are done this way. The valley between the teeth are then fill until flush with the top of the teeth and ground flat. Some people say there are a couple advantages to the fozzy Locker. By only doing the two valleys it allows the side gears to still rotate partially before locking. The gears that are being welded are the same gears that are replaced when a drop in a "lunch box locker" so if it doesn't work out as you hoped or if you damage a side gear, it can be replaced by one of several drop-in lockers such as a Lock Rite or a Detroit EZ Locker. Ultimately this type of locker will not ratchet (disengage) around corners as a an automatic locker would would and can be hard on the stock open carrier especially when a wheel spins and hits the weld placing a large amount of shock on the stock carrier

Does he mean an Aussie Locker?

no its a variation on a redneck spool [lincoln locker] as in [lincoln welder] the lincoln you solidly self weld the spiders and side gears to the carier the fozzy it would seem you take the side gears out and weld between the teeth filling the gap oposite sides then refit the idea seems that it alows just a bit of movement to soak up shock loadings
dunno i have had very good results from no-slip lunch box lockers and think thats what i would do again NEVER BUY a EZ LOCKER they are shit
do not buy them i did and threw them away

Lunchbox lockers everytime (Lockrite) Everybody.... usually rich buggers with ARBs rubbish them, but hey I've had them in my YJ with 35s since 2001 and never had a problem. However I know 3 people with similar rigs that have rogered ARBs?!!
Guess if you put 450 bhp thro Lockrites at an angle and then jump the rig someat 'll give and that will be your axle shafts and UJs so yes Lockrites get my vote everytime.
However I would now do a different take on the rear and have a Spool, $250 and no racheting and lurching just makes every drive seem like a car chase when you corner in the multistory??!!!!

yup :imwitstupid:

Yeah, welding the valley between 2 teeth on the planitaries in an open diff. Gives you most of the rotation of the diff before it locks, so it's like having a nearly working diff.
Multistory !!! been a while ;)
Just wondered if anyone had any first hand experience of doing it. I've read loads of reviews saying that they are the dogs down to never again... and a lot of opinions from people who havn't a clue (even what a diff is !!).
