The central locking on my 1996 XJ has started working intermittently off the remote fob. When you use the fob there is always a clicking noise but it only actually locks/unlocks intermittently. Any ideas?
Thanks - Simon.

Have you fitted new batteries in the key fob?
If you have a spare fob try that and see if C/L works OK

No I haven't. It did cross my mind that it could potentially be the problem, but just thought it would not be working at all. The LED on the fob still illuminates when the central locking doesn't work. I guess for what the batteries cost it's worth a go.

SMT, Same thing started to happen to my 98 xj, In the passengers foot well behind short squarish plastic trim by passengers left foot are 5 multi block connectors , One of them is for the central locking ( think, white block ,thick black wire plus others is the one ) What i done was to seperate them all then reconnect them all and my power central locking has worked faultlessly since! must be bad connection , Its worth a try worked for me .
