That would be my first suspicion too. The airflow is all directed by the vacuum system with a vacuum canister behing the bumper on the passenger/left side.

I thought about that but my cruise is working and I thought that ran off the same vacuum

I think the facelift models may have changed to an electrical system? You would have to consult a factory service manual to be sure. Try googling greatlakesxj tech. Unfortunately my 4ltr classic is one of the few 4ltr models that doesn't have cruise so I can't help you there (but I would love to have it!)

Does the compressor engage? High side refrigerant pipe from the compressor ( The small one) should be hot and the low side should be cold.... If this is what your car is doing, then it will be a blend flap/ water flow issue....

PS aircons are charged by weight or by dynamic pressure (Not static) but you will need a set of manifold gauges to charge by pressure.... You may still be undercharged

Filter/condenser blocked - check the pipes see if both are cold.

The aircon actually works now for about 5-10 minutes then the air starts to warm up

In which case... Check the gap between the flywheel and the clutch plate on the air con compressor. It should be about the same gap as a business card is thick.. The clutches on these cars cycle on and off and do wear.. when it is cool the field winding in the electromagnetic clutch can produce enough magnetic force to pull the clutch plate to the flywheel, when it all warms up a bit, the resistance of the field reduces and so does the magnetic field and the clutch plate springs open again, not to run 'till all is cool again.. The clutch plate is spaced using shims where the plat bolts to the input shaft of the compressor (Bolt in the centre) remove the clutch plate and re shim for a smaller gap..
