Hi my jeep has 15in wheels with 235/75/15 tyres. Can i swap these for 16in wheels with 225/75/16 tyres . If do a search on Tyre sites with my reg number it comes up with both sizes of wheels and tyres for my jeep cherokee 1997 facelift

Yes they will fit straight on and are standard fit for many facelift XJ's
My 2000 classic came with these-

Or you can fit a set of these from the Grand Cherokee but they stick out 0.25" further-

In my opinion the grand cherokee wheels look great on the Cherokee XJ and 225/75/16 tyres won't cause any rubbing problems.
EDIT: Just realised you have mentioned the 225/75/16 size while 225/70/16 is the factory size on 16" rims.

Like the man said as close as to make no difference.
Are your old 15s for sale per chance?
