Evening all.
I have removed the Rock sliders from the TJ to have em blasted & re coated. The XJ ones went the same way, crappy prep by our cousins across the pond :icon_rolleyes:
However, when I took em off I found an opportunity for improvement. They are held in place by bolts onto the chassis & then 5 small bolts that run along the bottom of the body onto the small tabs where the original plastic side moulding fitted.
One of these tabs has rusted off & another has a crack in it. That's just the drivers side, possibly the same on the passenger side too, got to investigate for cracked ones.
Have thought about fixing a new steel tab inside to rplace / reinforce the damaged / missing ones but not sure how to secure them, I think welding would be too hot for the outer paint as the bodywork is thin but not sure about brazing in place.
Anybody else come across this or have any ideas like special magic glue :017:

Gaz dude plastic tabs on rock sliders are well just not the done thing..
Think yours IIRC are of the drill the mounts type?? Rather than the bolt on ones on mine
-
The actual tabs are metal, they are part of the bottom body panel that runs along the side of the car.
The only plastic was the original moulding that fitted to em.
Its the metal tabs that are fubar. gggrrrrr

Be even better if the magic glue comes with a carpet and some mushrooms, if so bring it to the Turkey hunt as the bonfire would be hysterical

Right then, pics of underneath, missing tab, cracked tab & potential replacement. But how do I fix the replacement bracket without fubaring the paint on the outside ?
