Title: Transfer case fluid change
Post by: Bishops Finger on October 26, 2009, 11:20:08 PM
According to manuals TJ's need to be driven in 4wd to warm the fluid up before change

Tj's are not meant to be driven on tarmac this way...

Any thoughts pls

Assuming you don't have free wheeling hubs, then the diff is being pushed round when your moving in 2WD anyway. That should warm the oil enough for draining.  :greggmo:

Go out for a spin till the engine reaches normal temp, that should have all the fluids nice and warm in the boxes too. When you get back drop all the oils from the diffs + tranny box first. Then drop the engine oil (careful will be very hot) and when its cooled right down drop the coolant out.

Jobs a good un  :greggmo:

just drain it dood. atf is so thin it dont really stick to anythin. i like to drain em from cold and unmoved over night so any bits that shouldnt be in there are at the bottom of the oil.
