Title: Grand Lift Kit
Post by: tedthefed on November 07, 2009, 07:12:27 PM
Just been helping to fit a 2.5" rusty's lift kit to a friends Grand. Just shocks and springs took around 6 hours  with tea breaks etc (for me not bad not being mechanicaly minded). Not sure what book time is but had some fun and maybe next year mine could be sorted and won't take as long . May be photo's later.

Thanks Ted. For those interested I've included some before and after photo's below.

The kit has raised the Jeep by 2.5inch all round. Measuring from centre of the wheel to the top of the wheel arch:-

Front - from 17.5inch to 20inch.
Rear - from 18.5inch to 21inch.

We expected it to drop a little after use - it hasn't.

Overall impressions are good. It's firmed the ride up a little, but not too much. It now corners flatter and there's less overall 'wobble'.
Installation as per Teds comments. We fitted at a garage and lifting the body sufficiently to drop the axles took some imagination! We found the need to use a spring compresser to get the new springs on the back and it would have made it a little easier on the front.

Other than that, no issues. Everything we needed was in the kit. Looking forward to testing it off-road now.

Rich.

Looking good, just need some bigger tyres now.

Looks interesting, if you are coming to the Pub in Dec I'll bring mine and see how much more you've got than the Old Man Emus I had done, but as I didn't measure before so no idea !, think its less than your 2.5 inch though!

Hi Malcolm,

Yes, I'll be at the pub meet in December.

Ivan - have to agree, it's made the tyres look small so will be looking for biggers ones when the time comes.....
