It's the connection to the vehicles PCI bus network, it allows communication between all the computers on the vehicle. For the radio it supplies signals from the steering wheel controls.

Thanks for that mike, so could I just leave it unplugged, if so i take it I would just loose the my steering wheel control for my volume ect and I wouldnt cause any damage to anything by leaving it unplugged.
Thanks again

Remember that the 2001 GC has an infinity stereo, with amp under the back seat.
You can get a kit to use the amp with another head unit, but it's not necessarily
a straight swap due to the amp.

Thanks for info, Ive got the wiring harness adapter for the infinity stereo I was just worried about the pci wire as there is nowhere for this to plug in to, so is it ok to just leave it unplugged, I know I would lose my steering wheel controls for the stereo but is that all I would lose.
Any help appreciated
Thanks
