The one on my 4G53 2.4 ASTRON engine in my 1975 J26 Mitsi Jeep has stopped working.
I've been quoted £70 for a rebuild by Past Parts of Bury St Edmunds.
Does this seem fair or are there any better alternatives?
I also need to find a supplier for a sheet of decent thickness (not paper) gasket material ready for the reassembly.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Bernard

that don't sound a bad price if they gonna guarantee it. recon if you scan the bay you should find some gasket material.
-
Cheers for that.
I've had an even better estimate
from SP Waterpumps of Warrington
so hope to get it sorted through them.
Thanks for the advice re Gasket.

i get my gasket material from local enginering factors, also have got from local car spares shop
-
Thanks for that.
Another good source is Gaskets Direct
http://www.gaskets-direct-limited.co.uk/materials.htm (http://www.gaskets-direct-limited.co.uk/materials.htm)
They sell on e-bay but their web site gives novices, like me, a lot of help deciding what is suitable.
I've decided to change the hoses while I'm at it.
Any advice or recommendations on these?

silicone hoses look nice but they cost a fortune compared to the normal black rubber type
-
did see a nice dressed engine the other day, all the rubber pipes had been replaced with polished stainless steel with short rubber connectors.
not practical for an off roader but did look sweet
-
Dave69,
Thanks for the idea.
I have been thinking about putting silicone hoses on not only the cost put me off but the style wouldn't suit my old truck.
Cheers

Waterpump rebuilt and gasket made by
SP Waterpumps of Warrington. They are on the web.
Cost including carriage £98.
Time taken including delivery to them and back to me = 3 working days.
Friendly and helpful people.
I've refitted the pump and now the radiator is hot from top to bottom, getting cooler as you go down.
So hopefully this has fixed the problem.
Thank you for all the tips and suggestions.
