Once again the tempretures here in sunny Polska have plummeted to those matching Siberia , jeez its cold...! Not suprisingly my 1997 Jeep cherokee 2.5 diesal has suffered a dead battery after being stood for a day or two....No problem says i , just pop the bonnet and put in my spare battery which i keep on charge...errr no...!
The bonnet has always been a pain to open , one side pops up no problem , but the other side always needed an extra hard tug on the lever to open it , but now the dam thing will not pop open on the drivers side no matter how hard i tug on the release with my frozen hands.....Is there any way of getting the bonnet open short of using a crowbar...?

Sounds like a cable has snapped or stretched too far.
You'll have to find an alternative way of accessing the catch mechanism :017:

My father-in-law has a similar problem with his car. It needs two people to open the bonnet, one to pull on the lever and one to press down on the front of the bonnet near the catch and eventually it pops open.

take the front panel off and you can just (literally just about) about reach the round bar that runs to the passenger side bonnet clip.
