Picked up my new Jeep yesterday. Stopped overnight on the way back and this morning it was iced up. Wound the windows down then back up no problem but the drivers side window went up then dropped down. The motor still works but somehow the window has detached from the motor.
Managed to bodge the window for the journey home.
Other than that, a cracking trip and a great Jeep.

Probably a trip to the dealers for a new mechanism, mine went on both the front & rear drivers side.
Think it came as one assembly, in both my cases the cable wears out & breaks = its screwed.

tis a crap design, fairly weak tooth drive at the bottom of the window, not really a fixable thing, ebay is your friend

Found a DIY fix from a US owner online which looks do-able. Quick check on the bay and theres pretty much every motor mech except XJ O/S/F

I did the DIY fix on 99 Cherokee, took me about an hour. Cheaper than the dealers or ebay.
Bit of filling down of the plastic teeth, two holes drilled and two split pins inserted. Bit of grease on the mechanism and now works as good as new.

I actually made my own metal bracket to hold it - my advice is to buy a kit, or ask sellers on ebay that have breaking ads on :icon_winkle:
I've got a OSF motor spare, it goes up and down OK - but when hitting top there is a bit of clunking - but works OK apart from that.
