My wiper motor on my 01 XJ has seized with smoke pouring out of it after moving the wipers halfway across the screen. Can someone confirm the motors are interchangable between all the years or did they change them at any time as there is one on ebay but the ad states it fits models 90-99.

the 2.5 fits the 4.0lt, but they are a tight fit to get in and out. thats on a 93. Are you sure the linkages have not siezed causing the motor to burn out. Might be worth looking at a breaker and buying the whole assembly,
just got the following from a parts catalogue ive got, looks like you might be out of luck
Looking at it again the wiper orientation appears to have been swapped over
Part number 55155 300AB MOTOR, Wiper 2001yr
Part number 4723 460 MOTOR, Wiper 93yr
some catalogues that you might find helpful

Thanks mate, I took the assembly out last night and you were right. The steel rod with nut on from the motor gearbox to the link had corroded where it enters the aluminium housing and because the jeep has been standing for a couple of weeks was the final nail in the coffin. Aluminium and steel together don't mix. Anyway after freeing it up and plenty of grease I have wipers, although for some reason I have now lost fast speed. :017:
