Title: 2.5td facelift exhaust where
Post by: brian reid on February 07, 2010, 11:35:58 PM
where can i get back box for for a 2.5td cherokee on a 1998 plate facelift

been lookin everywhere, can get the mk1 but cant get the one for the 2.5td facelift as the bore size was changed, local dealer want crazy money for a back box, strange as the price they gave me for the mk1 box was ok at around £98.00,then they noticed the bore size was not the same and the price went through the roof.

M.O.T due soon, this has to be changed out asap.

please help regards brian

go to your local custom stainless steel exhaust workshop, wont be much more, if any, than the MK1 quote you had

yup there is a exhaust workshop local to me,but they wanted £180,they dont do standard exhausts, just s/steel ones.

£180.thats expencive, thats inc fitting but dont know if that was inc the pipe from the flange back to the box,its only the box that rotting, the rest of the system is solid.

i have seen boxes in auto shop for £35.00,but with the cherokee as you know its that damb pipe that goes up and over the back axle thats the bugger, thought about putting on a site exit exhaust, that way i could take advantage of the cheaper s/steel boxes from the local auto shop that have a 10yr warrenty.

what dod you reckon, side exit exhaust on a diesel?

if the exhaust is secured then there isn't a problem, i have used metal flexi-pipe from the over axle and fixed it to the tank shield and out the back of the jeep. the flex in the pipe enabled the main exhaust to move around and it was secured at the rear section
