Title: Jeep lightbar
Post by: boogieman on February 21, 2010, 12:51:04 PM
I decided to fit a lower key lightbar to my GC WJ in place of the great big Surco rack & KC spots. Just thought I'd post the pics & links to my suppliers for anyone thinking of doing a similar mod. Have to say I love the finished result  :icon_biggrin:

The leds are wired in with the sidelights & the rear spots are wired to come on when reverse is selected - these came in really handy on a recent laning trip where the route ahead was blocked & we needed to reverse about half a mile - nice to be able to see where you're going !

Suppliers  http://www.lightbarsdirect.co.uk/led_lights___bulbs.html#LEDS (http://www.lightbarsdirect.co.uk/led_lights___bulbs.html#LEDS)

              http://www.autostylinguk.co.uk/hella-lights-503/ (http://www.autostylinguk.co.uk/hella-lights-503/)

and the roofbars came from  http://www.roofracks.co.uk/fitments/jeep_grand_cherokee_rails_92_01.htm (http://www.roofracks.co.uk/fitments/jeep_grand_cherokee_rails_92_01.htm)  - these were cheaper delivered than buying locally !

Oh yes, the cb aerial mount & artificial groundplane came from  http://www.4x4cb.com/public/menu.cfm?Category=457&Browse=Products (http://www.4x4cb.com/public/menu.cfm?Category=457&Browse=Products)

I had to source longer bolts to fit the spots to the roofbars but that wasn't difficult. The roofbars lock to give a little added security & I had waterproof plugs inserted so I have the option to totally remove the bars should I wish.

The wires all run down inside the nearside roof rail & come into the car just inside the tailgate :001:
