Title: AMC 360 & no fuel
Post by: Bulldog67 on March 11, 2010, 08:16:09 PM
No fuel coming through to the 360, assuming its the pump, is there any obvious way to check? The spare pump seems no more useful so may be something else.

Or any othe ideas?

Cheers

have you messed with anything at all  and are you sure about the bien no fuel get airosol cap full of petrol chuck half of it down its throat and try to start it if she fires do it again if its a weak pump the sudden roar of life will re prime the pump and it will run if not you need to take the fuel pump off to manualy check by moving the lever and sticking ya tonge in the suction side to see if it sucks

Sounds like a plan, cheers

whereas:

you could always sell it me for forty quid and i will take a risk on it not runnin

that seems less like a plan  :003:

errr, actually i did take off the cap on the emmissions thing (altho the cap says dont remove  :003: couldnt help it, seemed like a challenge), under the cap was a rubber seal thing and a spring, obviously put it back on and theoretically intact; could that have had an effect?

Take a look on yer other AMC engines, there should be an identical pump you can rob for the time being.

Long term, new pump (or rebuild kit?) I dunno if they are rebuildable to be honest. :017:

Mine never had a problem sucking petrol, just me paying for it :greggmo:

When it happening to me, it turned out to be pin-holed metal fuel lines, letting air in.

Connect the pump to a pipe direct into a can of fresh fuel.
