Title: WJ 4.7 1999 knocking rear and juddering steering??
Post by: baldguy on March 26, 2010, 06:20:48 PM
Hi all,

Well I've now sold my ZJ after 2 months and replaced it with a V8 WJ.. a few questions if anyone can help.... I picked it up cheap but it has a couple of issues that i need to sort before taking it off-road...

Both rear wheels have allot of movement when shaking them whilst sat on ground, it also has a loud knocking noise at the back when hit bumps etc which is all part and parcel of this movement.. I take it this is both wheel bearings need replacing?

When turning quite sharp whilst parking etc the steering judders left or right... its fine just normal driving.. any ideas?

All help/advice most grateful...

Cheers Greg

Check the ball joint on top of the rear diff housing.
Most WGs had strange hydraulic noises from the power steering, Chrysler never managed to cure it.
