Looks like something for the future as eBlag is awash with AW4s outa XJs at present.
OK it's against my ludite principles but it gives 4 speed auto with computer control and 0.74:1 overdrive.
Will alledgedly work with and stand upto AMC 360 with TBI which is as powerful as I'm likely to ever get unless I win the lotto.
Will also mate upto a std Dana 300 with a little shaft trimming.
Cool Javelin is getting 28mpg (US) :greggmo:
-
dont understnd the tech details but the prinipal sounds cool, get goin and trial it for us FJ
-
i have been looking at this for a while the same is true for cjs scramblers in patic as they have the wheelbase the lecktrikery is the only of put to me so i am considering 700r4 gets you overdrive in heavy duty flavour and could open the window for v8 diesel
-
That would make good sense (700r4) for a GM engine straight bolt up jobbie.
Likewise AMC V8/AW4/D300, all nuts'n'bolts, no expensive conv plates plenty spares service parts 'cos of so many XJ autos.
Might even get 20mpg with right axles/tyres
Also, weren't the AW4 used under a different name with Toyota engines?
If they wuz diesel (the 'Yota)= cheapo diesel conversion- yota front end, jeep rear end????
This is gonna be sometime off anyways
-
all good but beware of lecktrickery
-
If I were a rich man, I'd be happy to "live in the muscle car era" for the rest of my days :greggmo:
But I aint, and with petrol heading towards £6 a gallon, and no prospect of anything changing in this rotten country, the lecktrickery has to be faced at some point :017:
-
they will have to find an alternative fuel
-
It's not the fuel that's the problem, the Nazis had no problem fueling the Luftwaffe with petrol made from coal (until the yanks bombed all the processing plants) so even if the oil goes $$$$$$$$$ there is still an viable way to make petrol.
Problem is the excessive tax and the "bottomless pit" welfare state that causes it.
Why do they keep letting people in who aint even from Europe and aint ever ever gonna do a days work?????
