Post by: loz on April 12, 2010, 05:49:04 PM

Just changed to 4.11 on our TJ & fitted true Trac limited slip diffs front & rear, bought everything from here

http://www.ringpinion.com/ (http://www.ringpinion.com/)

Good technical knowledge, I asked them to ship by USPS as it was over $200 cheaper than UPS etc. Just make sure they get a tracking number for EACH parcel they send. EVERY individual parcel has a tracking number, don't let the sales staff tell you any different, trust me, it will help when dealing with parcel force over here to pay the charges  :icon_winkle:

Be careful there are different size carriers on the dana axles, i think that if you have the 3.55 ratio axles you cant just buy a 4.56 ring and pinion and fit it the carrier will need changing as well although im sure a more technical person will back me up or laugh at my lack of knowledge on the subject soon :017:

there is a size limit before you have to change the carrier,

Ring Randy's tech dept as when I enquired about the same kit from Lighthouse they said I would need a carrier for the front, however as I was fitting True Tracs, Randy's said I didn't & I dont think we had too, Bubba will confirm this.

Without the True Tracs though & just a straight re-gear, I think you might need at least the front if not the rear as well.... like I say, this was for 4.10 - 4.11, 4.56 may be different again.

Hi,

I did this on my Wrangler last year, yes you defo need a different front carrier (one of a 2.5 Cherokee petrol should be fine as they have 4.10 gear normally)... rear does not need to be changed, check for cracks around where the small bolt goes in...

I also fitted an Aussie locker in the front at the same time, machine shop pressed bearing etc on for me and offered needed advice, I then put everything back together and it's performed very well... I have now bought a rear locker...

Here's the original post and help that this site offered, used a online tutorial for locker, cheers Maf

ring randys for all compatability there are short  pinions long pinions  and several carrirers fot the front alone some are crush sleeve and some are shimms give them your vin and they will talk you through all your options

then fitting is up to what you want to do
