Title: Sankey trailer help
Post by: Bulldog67 on April 19, 2010, 04:54:20 PM
I have a sankey sittin in deepest Bristol (cheers Bubba and Nosebolt) and have a prob: Chief nato hitch currently sits at 14" high, Sankey hitch sits at 29" high, I can get an adjustable adaptor plate that will take the Chief to 20-21" ish high, but im guessin that plod wont appreciate me cruisin down the m/way with a sankey at that angle - correct?

If i am correct, any ideas?

Its a pian in the arse, coulda done with it a dozen times in the last few months.

At the moment im guessin I will have to wait until the CJ is done  :010:

i towed it behind my grand wagoneer and several chiefs dont be a poof just get a riser plate and dont open the tailgate with the sankey on you  the sankey wont hurt if ita litle nose down it tows leval behind big red but dives on chugga but still works fine......note to self chugga is just to close to the floor

dunno bout the legality never thought to much a bout it whilst always nice to achive you dont see many single axle trailers that are towed perfectly leval and the old sanleys used to be nose down behind most military landys anyhoo the newr widtracs are better behind curant landys

but you would not be over loaded or anything so i dont see any probs  lets ask the doom and gloom gods if they know

Nosebolts 4.2 and that would be all, the rest would be in the Chief

My sankey rides nose down on the TJ.

Took a long drive up the m6 that way, no problems.

It rode a bit more level coming home, might have been due to the 360 sat in it :003:

amazingly the landi managed a 320 mile round trip with out failing, and i didnt even bother stoppin it for a rest, mind u, first time i have ever done 300 miles on a motorway and only overtook a grand total of 8 lorries  :jpshakehead:

also managed to warp the landi chasis by getting the sankey into an arguement with a kerb when reversing, fuckin tin foil chasis hacks me, my bro, and my wallet off  :banghead:

well my rock hardnut sankey has managed to fuck that tin rear cross member on the landy so bad that my bro wants me to cough for a new one coz he wants to sell it :jpshakehead: so by the time i have coughed for the new one, plus gettin the old one off and gettin a new one put on i may as well buy the feckin thing and get it done cheaply over a period of time and sell it on myself

woulda been cheaper to get the feckin sankey transported here  :jpshakehead:

every time im not skint, summink else comes up  :011:

no dis-respect to your brother but that rear member must have been soft before you put the trailer on it and lardies are known for having weak ones.
