Just ordered a set of 15x8 modular steel rims from jcs 4x4, will they stick out beyond arches? he tells me they fit my year cherry back spacing etc, i will be fitting 31.10.50 on the rims, anyone run 15x8 on their cherry?..............
-
depends on the back spacing mate, what you got ?
-
he told me 4? and thats ok :icon_eek:
-
i run TJ's but my 8" rims with 4" backspace stick out a fair bit, thats with 33x1050x15 tyres fitted
the xj boys will tell you more :greggmo:
-
i think standard rims are 5 1/4" backspace

Thanks mike yours looks great! road legal then? that's what was worrying me...

The question of road legality depends on the plod that stops you. To avoid any potential issues,
the fender flares should stick out the same as or more than the tyres.

Only as long as you don't get caught. :icon_winkle: Regulations are complex and open to a certain degree of interpretation but rule of thumb, if you can see tread from directly above you're nicked. :jpshakehead:

those arnt standard xj flares are they mike, TJ ?
-
Stock XJ flares, the bottom of the front fender and flare have been cut off at bumper height at the front.
Simply cut along line..... [attachment=1]
And discard unwanted pieces of Jeep..... [attachment=2]

Update, went down had my tyres fitted to the new rims, they look great! they are blown out to just beyond the arches, should have no probs with plod! they are very well made alot better than the originals and dark gunmetal grey the guy charles is very helpful, he said he sells out of the jeep rims pretty fast. definitely recomended
jcs4x4..........
