Title: yj transfer drop?

ive just put  2 1/2" lift springs on my 94 2.5l yj. i think it is a little higher.
my drive shaft now looks like the angle is very steep.
i want to lower the transfer box asap
 im thinking of some 1" box tube either side on the skid plate.
is this ok? and does anyone know what size bolts i will need?

i would not realy expect you to need to lower the transfer box for a moddest lift like that

2 1/2" lift should pose no problems, but all Jeeps react differently. If there's no driveline vibes, leave it. If there are vibes then 1" box section will work.
I have somewhere near 4-5" of lift and no t-case drop, but 40mm lifted engine mounts (40mm box under the stock engine mounts), I've retained the clearance under the bash plate and get no vibes :greggmo:

there is a slight vibration and the angel? angle? does look steep.
if an inch drop wont do any harm then i will give it a try.
i like the idea of the engine mounts, is that an easy job?

dpends on whether you know how to use a spanner.

trolley jack to support engine and away you go. some bolts might be a pain but it's only a case of take off and replace

For everyone else they are a set of my customised Procomp Springs that have been 'seen to' ie opened the leaf clamps and binned at least one leaf so they react like RE springs.....
But they are on a light weight 2.5 litre YJ so I'm thinking at least 3" of lift here.......

Try to get the angle at the transfer case to be the same as the angle at the diff and that should wipe out vibration and any probs...
as I said on the PM either lower transfer case or preferably so you don't lose breakover angle use degree wedges under the axle

not sure which no. is current but he will be able to get you wedges.... they come in different flavours

4 degree  6 degree 8 degree etc......

i got a drop kit off steve today(good bloke). he is just 20 miles away. i should be able to fit it tomorrow.

just fitted the drop kit, all vibrations gone :)
im not completly happy with the way the spacers fit.
where the 6 bolts go into the chassis the metal is raised to locate the skid plate.
the 1" plastic spacers do not sit flat directly onto the chassis, but on the raised parts.
is this normal?
