Title: M38 or flat fender axles
Post by: wildwood on May 22, 2010, 10:02:07 PM
OK..... we want stronger than a dana 25 and 41 rear......or  even a low spline count 44 rear......

I have been having an anorak and a few people that I have read posts of  AUS I think mentioned Asia Rocsta as having Dana axles that will fit a flattie and be similar in width (within 2-3 inches I'd guess) anyone know anything about this??

my anorak hunting seems to point me in the mindy direction as well ..............

What am I doing I hear you ask (or not)

Got a longing for a flat fender and have eyes on a dismantled M38 (military CJ3a) from 1952 thats in bits........

Also another thought... a view down the chassis seems to me its parallel  all the way down which means an easier chassis fab project with 60mm x 100mm box section of a 3mm thickness flavour to lengthen chasis for wrangler springs and not have to box the old 60 year old C-channel and extend it..... :icon_twisted:

just a thought :icon_biggrin:

I'll just stand back and wait for the resto crew to hate me :icon_twisted:

that said although the m38mc is the less regarded and generally cheapest military flat fender it is statistically the rarest yet it is the toughest

no one would shed a tear over a mindy

I was thinking of using the axles outa 1980 s daihatsu f50, they look like dana , strong as feck, the 82 onwards has disc brakes up front, mine did  :017:

Difinitive anorak trawling needed, I think. What confuses me is all these alternative source Jap vehicles have different names in different countries

Here's another anomaly ...maybe?  Have it on very good authority that the CJ3b (high hood that became the KND Mahindra) can be cut to CJ3A proportions cos the cut lines are indented on the bulkhead/skuttle, seems like Jeep just added a piece!

Question is, do those indent/cut lines exist on the Mahindra? :icon_twisted:
