Hi guys,ok as you know mines a Shogun and not a Jeep but then again this isnt strictly vehicle related, but more tyre related.I wondered if there was more than one size of tyre valve insert or were they all supposed to be standard.I ask as i had 5 original japanese rims that i had the tyres taken off and they have been in the shed for a while. Now i got some tyres to go on them and the guy couldnt get a standard valve insert to fit.Obviously the originals were removed and thrown by the twat that originally removed the tyres and damaged them all.No matter what he did today,it still kept passing air.Problem is the valve stems are located in the centre of the rim and are metal that bends outwards to rim at 90 degrees so he couldnt fit a normal rubber valve stem.So he inserted normal inserts just to help stop them completely deflating but that was all he could do.Anyone any ideas please???

yep, a few different sizes, you need 90deg one then?
you need to measure the holes, http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=tyre+valve+90&_sacat=0&_odkw=tyre+valve&_osacat=0&bkBtn=&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313 (http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=tyre+valve+90&_sacat=0&_odkw=tyre+valve&_osacat=0&bkBtn=&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313)

Sorry guys, must have been the way i explained it.The rim already has the 90 degree valve stem fitted which isnt a problem, but its the insert that screws in to the stem, like this, but having seen this, can it be just the length thats causing it to still leak or is it the width?

The place i had the tyres fitted was a tyre fitting place and they tried some but they just didnt seem to seal completely and i am not sure why

There are different style valves from the ones in the last ebay link too but they are all the same seal size for normal jeep/car/motor bike/bicycle valves. The larger sizes used on plant won't fit into normal valve stems. Is there dirt or damage on the inside of the valve stem, it's the only thing I can really think of.

Arr. Schrader values come in different lengths, but the inserts are a standard thread. Maybe
you do need new valve stems after all. Or you could call the mitsi dealer and ask, or try pocuk..
-
yup you need the whole assembly

All sorted now, with the help of some new valve cores, turns out the first one the guy tried to do must have been a bit bent and the valve core wouldnt go in very far,but with a bit of working and a pair of mole grips i sorted it,and all the others fitted and inflated with no problems, bloody idiots at the tyre place saying the valves werent standard sizes :017:
