Im gettin a shoppin urge, and its hot, so being optimistic that the J20 will move one day, im thinkin about puttin aircon in it (im assuming it will be easier to fit whilst all the engine etc is currently out), so does anyone know whether it matters if i get a system from a chief/waggy that is bein broken, is that a straight fit? does it matter what engine size it comes from? Any other pointers? thoughts?
cheers

Save the hassle...wind the windows down
-
nah, windows arent electric (that's another thread :003: )
ya have to remember these trucks are keepers (if i can pull it off financially) so i dont mind makin them a tad more civilised
-
just some food for thought,
for comfort there is no argument that air con is better than no air con.
but consider a few things, this will be an older style aircon and use some rather nasty gasses which will cost to top up and dispose of old stuff, when running there will be a power loss, on new cars 5-6bhp loss is expected with an older style system aircon it could be as much as 10-15 bhp, there is also an expected drop in MPG, on a new car 2% seems average but on older systems as much as 5% that could be as much a 20 miles less per tank full.
winding down the widows don't seem so bad now :003:

Won't there be good enough airflow through the rust holes? :003:
Just a thought - Chop a system out of a scrap XJ and spend a bit of time making some mounts etc??
-
why not just use all new component and get one of these...

I would think its the easiest sytem to fit being small and compact.
