Right then after a lot of head scratching and .......... a major decision to go large with the YJ....... (I now only use it for events and getting there and hopefully back, and road trips to sort probs that are of my own doing and because of major mods :jpshakehead:
So collecting parts. Think I have tracked down a TH400 AMC flavour.... has anyone done this to a 4.0 litre (Novak have all the details) just prefer some feedback from closer to home........
Behind it will go my trusty Dana 300 and klune........
Then when I have tracked down some J20 axles 44 and 60 anyone?????? Please!! I will swap to a non flippped dana 300
Fronts going out 6 inches and so is the rear...... and I'm staying at 4and half lift on leaves just to be obstinate.....and old school.
So until Dec when the tax and ins run out I'm spankin' it as usual after that the Mig will be workin overtime in the evenings......
So my real question for now is the TH400 question.......... anyone......?
-
Have you been drinking "RedBull" with JJ? :003:
-
Yes at Kirton!!!............... funny you should ask :icon_twisted:
-
im going to give it a go and see what happens.....see if bulldog will sell you his axles as he is never going to get that bag of bolts running....if not tugman had a set of 44s for sale at one point....

-
thats a lot of beef
-
Just got in from Bawtry Off road day..... very good..........
Bloke that Mark Askew knows who was there, but didn't get to meet him ..yet......!
Has multiple sets of Dana 70s and 80s front and back for sale ........ will find out more later :icon_super:
-
goint to be a lot of monsters about at this rate
-
Dana 70 & 80 seem like massive overkill - what size are these axles and what tyre size would you expect to go with them? Imagine the diff dragging on the ground with 35s fitted :017:
-
you can shave the bottom of the diff and it would be just like any other axle. why would it be extra overkill to pull it around or better asked... if a dana60 is good for 40in tires would it not be smarter to run 38 and never worry about braking anything?
its not overkill its peace of mind.....
-
i see at least 40s in your future jez, go on you know you want too!
-
Yeah your right Jono the 70/80 combo is going to be a ton of extra weight (prob literally) and deffo need your tyres 44s. So thats the end of my road days :icon_twisted:
The difflock ad is the same as Marks contact...... (Doncaster) ex military take out and 5.13s..... So that bit means affordable axles with (for me ) the correct (I think ) ratios....
Its just dealing with the hubs to get to a wheel mounting surface closer to the disc that doesn't have a gazillion lug nuts. (without bleeding out your finances in the direction of Dynatrac)
Think these might end up being bought and ....................years of research later............... might just get used :icon_sad:
King CJ .....how much you want for that TH400 and is it a goer?
-
same guy had some hummer rims that would fit, and i may have some 8 lug wheels spare soon. as far as the th400 goes £100 and its yours complete with quadtrac transfercase
-
I think those axles would rip an XJ unibody apart but do give me ideas for FSJ / J-Truck type builds...Hmmm
-
Thanks King CJ will contact you before we meet up at Double J's on July 4th.
-
no probs mate
