Just a poss daft question, but thought i better ask..
The auto tran pipe has a flexi bit nearest the front radiator area this keeps coming away from the solid pipe end, could i just cut it off and use a jubilee clip to hold it together or what .
Not very technical but its the best way i can describe it...
-
you could but double clip it whith top quality clips but yes its a low tech solution can you not get new flexys
-
:iagree:
But don't use those clips that have the rectangular slots punched in them - you'll regret it chop chop!
Try and flare the pipe end a bit too, I ran my Jeep like this for many years, but keep your eye on the cut end of the flex pipe, if it starts to swell it needs replacing as the outside sheath of the reinforced hose is starting to come away from the inner hose and the reinforcing braid between the two can't work.
Best fix of course is to take your hoses off and go visit a hydraulic hose manufacturer - they can supply new high pressure hoses with crimped ends that have been pressure checked at a fair price or you can buy a length of hose and some 're-usable' fittings to make your own flex hoses.

that fix has lasted 4 yrs with mine and no issues
-
Will have a good look at it on Monday , off then for 4 days so one for the Jalopy. Rest work at home.

I had a worse problem with mine (pin hole in hard part of pipe) but Jeep sell replacements for okay money (the full line, hard and flexi bits).

Hopefully now sorted pushed back on a tad awkward so will wait and see if its worked.
