Been posted in Baywatch a while ago...... but this Birty went for a blast down the A14 on the Kwik Kwak to near Sibbertoft..... Had been looking at the pics and something confused me.
Met the guy went to a farm where he stores his stuff..... Nice remains of CJ8 ripe for rebuild that he's going to do.... Nice CJ that he's done but a while ago and his yellow 60'd 350 NV4500 sprung overed winch event machine......
Nice bloke..... but I looked at the axle thought ...they never did spring under on fords..... I downloaded all the BOM Bill of Materials codes and year breaks as to what is what.....(sad eh!) then realised its upside down in the pics and in front of me.... (This has happened to me before :icon_twisted:) So its not a left drop its a right drop...... and its not Hi pinion...... bloke said its definately a ford..... Sorry.... ford didn't do right drop..... and they stopped low or centered pinion.....on the 77 F250.......
Anyway its a Low pinion Kingpin Chevy axle from the late 70's with spring perch distance a small half inch wider than a YJ with WMS to WMS of 69.5" BOM numbers had long gone (they are not very deep) but prob 4.10 or 4.56 its got discs and calipers and tie rod.....
He also knows where the rear is .... 14bolt
I was interested if the rear was present.....then...... Came home spoke to a mate who is about to break his Chev K30 1986 60 at front and 14 bolt at rear. I am now glad I kept that extra Dana300 :icon_super:
The "Ford" Dana 60 will not go lower than £650 and has no one interested except a bloke from Cyprus.....
(Can't see that happening :icon_biggrin:)
So there you go..... If any of you CJ FSJ or even like minded Dana 300 equipped YJ owners...... want to go BIGGGG :icon_twisted:
:icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin:
so words have been exchanged about a deal......
-

:icon_eek: there is another
-
there was one in the cheltenham (cj8) last time I saw it it was in bits in a body shop but I left a number for t guy to give to the owner when he came to collect it as it was only stored there and as the place was closing it was going to have to move.Sadly I believe it got crushed as not seen site nor sound of it since. :banghead:
-
The CJ8 was a RHD 6 cylinder truck cab no seats in back... cream /beige with rotted tub at rear arches and behind.....unmolested and not off road modded. He's going to make it a daily driver.....
-
clearly i have been misled, these cj8s are common as muck and clearly everywhere, now wheres claims directs phone number, ill see you in court Bubba! :icon_biggrin:
-
aha i never said there might not be the odd other lurking
-
best get rid now there are soooooooooooooo many around
-
so, Sparky has been mugged :003: and joined the BD & Big T club to boot :003:
but Bubba still only owns the 2 that actually move :jpshakehead:
I have a plan formin here, im gonna get a reverse done on my card sayin if u got an uncle, buddy, sibling etc with an old jeep in a field or barn, give them my number and i will collect. That way shouldnt take me long to have southern england covered and will be sweepin up all the hidden gems >:D
this time next year i will be a rust millionaire :icon_super:
-
So out of the other 27,788 scramblers that were ever built, theres got to be one in the south of England somewhere with your name on it Bulldog keep looking fella its probably right under your nose :icon_winkle:
-
i agree Dave, and i like the way u ask the cosmos to lend its aid :icon_super:

we have been through this before j33pky a cj7 stretched to the wheelbase of a cj8 but without the silly overhang is clearly a cj6 not a cj8 :tool::wave-fingersmiely:

The search for holy grails continues.
If anyones interested in reading 'barn find stories' I can recommend 2 books; 'The Cobra in the barn' & its sequel 'The Hemi in the barn' both by Tom Cotter. Theres a lot of info & tips on how to go about unearthing barn finds & the procedure for persuading the owners to let go.
