hi Ive got 16 very bent pushrods. no Mr isle of man its not a copy of your favorite homo flick!
poor old 360 spat its dummy out at the jeepey jamboree, took heads of and seem OK ,but all 16 push rods are as bent as a dogs back leg.
timing seems OK (need to remove cover, butt chain still attached) or maybe chain as jumped/slipped? anybody had a similar problem?
-
Have you dunked it in water?
-
:imwitstupid: think you have take hydrauliced the motor
-

no water in intake, filter is bone dry.
-
Sounds like the timing chain has slipped
-
:imwitstupid: Water bends conrods, not valves. Timing's slipped somehow.
-
yup done it twice on me over the years seems to happen when there is a splutter on startup or if the timing to advanced after you have been messing
-
Check your oil...
-
yup thats an idea but the chain can jump when stretched
-
thanks guys...Mr lighthouse also seems to think its the timing chain that has slipped. pistons and valves seem OK need to remove timing cover and have a look.
-
bet its jumped
-
did it do a lot of damage to your 360's bubba or just pushrods like mine hopefully?????
-
both times mine spluttered then would not start i was lucky no other damage
-
is it jumped timing
-
not had time to remove timing cover, but will have sorted it by weekend and will let you know. but it certainly looks that way at the moment.
lighthouse said thy were told by someone to replace timing chain etc every 40.000 miles
-
the first time was on our honey moon i stripped it down and rebuilt it in a council car park in st ives cornwall only parrts were chain seals and gaskets it had twenty minuets warm up then drove it home to the midlands
at the time the engine had 37000 miles on it but a fortnight before the honeymoon the jeep a two door chief had been resting in a hedge for 7 years
-
lighthouse quoted...(prices + vat)
pushrods...£1.60
lifters...£5.50
timing kit...£42.60
