Hi
Seem to have a fuel leak when I park up not sure if when running though assume so, I can smell diesel when I get out of the car. had a look round under the bonnet and looks like the fuel line in to the rear cylinder is leaking, whats the procedure for tightening up these fittings. It's a 2.5 td by the way. Had thought this was an oil leak but think it is diesel washing off any old oil on the engine and dripping down. I leave it overnight and I have a patch about 4 inch diameter, don't seem to be using that much fuel though.
Thanks

Injector return pipes are the likely culprit. Cheap as chips to replace :003:
-
Arr. Common on the 2.5TD.
-
Look at the little rubber blanking cap on no.4 injector first.
-
link to a 'kit' on ebay. Cut the pipe to length and includes 2 caps that Mike mentioned.
I'm not recommending the seller cos I don't know who they are. Its just an example :icon_winkle:

Thanks for replies, but knowledge is limited on the injectors and my mechanic mate can not look at it until week on monday. Could anyone give me a run down on how to go about curing this, any pictures would be a great help.
Thanks again guys.

Anyone at all could help with this.
Cheers

Regular posters on Birtys tend to avoid the 2.5 VM diesel. Wait a while and maybe someone will have some
better instructions.

if a pic is posted we can home him in on the spills

They're just little rubber pipes about 5mm diameter linking the injectors. the injector at the back has a rubber cap on the unused spill pipe stub. They're a push fit, they perish get loose and start to leak.
-
look for the injectors in the engine and they are joined by material coverd pipes. replace these pipes and the blanked pipe by the bulkhead. either buy the same sort of pipe or pop to B&K and get some small bore tubing as that works just the same

Sorted the leak, as you guys said it was the blanking cap on the last injector, Just want to say thanks for all the advice. Already had a load of problems with this car and the wife gives me that look that means you twat for buying this everytime I mention that some thing is leaking or stops working. Next job front wheel UJ just bought myself a big vise as looking at it I can tell it's going to need some force to get it out.
Once again thanks.
