Title: Code 54, CPS is good.
Post by: DRUNKEN DIXIE on September 17, 2010, 09:15:44 AM
Went out for work no start. Checked codes got a 54 again. Replaced with new CPS, still no start. Looked through the Haynes, checked both CPS's, both check out fine. So now what? Checked for spark from coil, none. Switched coils, same situation. Have 12 volts to coil. The Jeep is at the shop, they got this far. He will look more into it tomorrow as well as me, so asking for your guys help as well.

Turned out to be the connector for the camshaft position sensor was faulty.  During testing I guess the probes pushed the faulty wires into the connector to allow it to start but without the probes pushing no start.  So we hardwired and did away with the connector, and it starts right up with no code.
