Title: lost 4 low

i have just been playing in the jeep and i seam to have lost 4wd low. The leaver for the transfer box doesn't seam to do anything now it feels like something has broken. It worked fine in 4 low the other day but now it has no drive when selected. When in 4 hi or 2wd there is drive.
Any ideas???

its a 4l auto xj 1995

Are you trying to select while stationary? The 242 transfer case has to be shifted when moving.

Try to put it in 4-lo when the main box is in neutral & the Jeep is moving at walking pace, worked for me before now, kind of gives things a chance to engage.

just had a look and the adjustable rod on the transfer box lever was loose. I gave it a tweak and now it seams ok ill have to be more careful when shifting in the future.
