not for a jeep obviously, my mates pt cruiser :icon_winkle:
how do you replace a core plug, what tools are needed ?
-
dunno bout the rest of you but asuming you can get to it i use after cleaning the edges of the block a bead of red hermatite on the new plug and gently tap them in using a hammer and an undersize socket to avoid damging the new plug
-
and for getting it out ?
-
is it just the hammer ?
-
some use just a hammer but i like to use the socket to drift it in square without damage to the edges
-
from what I remember being about them I always thought you used a punch and hit the centre of the plug to hold it in place as the centre of it is convex , so when you hit it it expands and holds itself into place.

All the ones I have done I have just tapped the plug off centre and they either spin part in and part out or push all the way in so you can fish it out. I have only lost one into the water jacket and I used that engine for another 100+k with no problems.
