Title: Grand Cherokee diff oils......
Post by: carljh on October 22, 2010, 08:44:18 PM
Hi,
I am going to be changing the oils in t/c and diffs on my GC,
have been to the dealers for the t/c oil.
Have been under the car to look at the tags on the axles and found this
rear one says 80W 90 76OZ and the front one says 80W 90 40OZ
I assume 76OZ and 40OZ is the quantity needed in each in fluid ounces
my query is this oil to use?
do i put in what the tag says or what the lube guide says?
thanks for any suggestions on which way to go.

This post http://www.birtydastards.com/frm/index.php?topic=8091.msg112647#msg112647 (http://www.birtydastards.com/frm/index.php?topic=8091.msg112647#msg112647) in the lubrication guide
suggests that Jeep are now selling 80W90. If you're unsure, buy it from Jeep, it's not expensive (any more expensive
than anywhere else, anyway. Gear oil isn't cheap in the first place).
