Hi all newbie here ,just bought a 5.7 grand cherokkee .fault code showing wrong oil ,needs 5w-20 ,cant get it anywhere local in glasgow any ideas suppliers etc . cheers
-
Hi mate, what age / year / model is your grand ?
Most of them use 10-40
Were have you got 5-20 from ???
-
5w-20 would be like Singer Sewing Machine oil
must be an attempt to improve the fuel efficiency of the engine by reducing the drag that a heavier viscosity oil produces but probably adversely reduces the protection it provides
-
As it's a 5.7 it's got to be a 2005+ WK Grand
The Jeep dealerships are actually ok for most fluids on price, give them a try first. They will also confirm which oils are suitable for the engine.

My V6 VTEC uses 5w20, as does the Prius. It's becoming more common over time here.
