Got a slight squeak / whistle noise (not constant) that is consistent with speed & goes away when you touch the breaks. Jacked the front up & turned both wheels, no sound of anything binding & wheels don't seem to be getting hot like a caliper seizing so might be a just crap but got me thinking about changing the pads & or the fluid while MJS is at it :003:
They probably don't need it as there is meat on them but was thinking some new pads might freshen the brakes up a bit. Don't want anything so abrasive that it starts eating discs but any recommendations for a small improvement over standard or is it better to stick to standard OE or Lighthouse / Crown pads ?
BTW, I know its a Jeep & they are not blessed with the best stoppers in the world :icon_jook:

I had EBC Green Stuff pads on the XJ for a while before changing the brake system. There were a good pad, slight imporvement and didn't cause any damage to discs or any other nastys.

I've just fitted some greenstuff - quite dear - but I found a big improvement (saying that compared to worn out pads)

Cheers chaps, been reading up on various ones after your pointers & greenstuff 6000's seem to be the ones most suited to off-road use & normal road use with not nasty side effects like wearing out your discs within 5 minutes. They also seem to give the performance upgrade I would like.
Nice one Greg, can you get any prices on the greenstuff ones for a 98 TJ matey ?? Looking round the net, the best I have seen so far is £60 delivered.
Thanks again peeps :icon_winkle:
