Title: front brake discs change 2002 grand 2.7 crd
Post by: cinimod on December 12, 2010, 07:27:37 PM
I now have a 2002 2.7 crd grand cherokee Smile
however I need to change front brake discs and pads,is this an easy job?
Are the discs part of hub/wheel bearing assembly or can thay be removed without touching the hub assembly ?
Also Is there a uk workshop manual for this model as all seem to be us models?
cheers
Dom

Dom,

Looks like you don't have to touch the hub.

Did a 2003 KJ front & rear, Saturday and I think there's not much difference :

Get some axle stands - do not rely on your jack only
Wheel off
***** Stick a wide blade scew driver between old pad and disc and push back piston(s) (gently).  Otherwise your buggered and will be struggeling to put it back together.
Caliper off
Disc might be held in place with one circlip on 1 stud.

Clean up, swap pads and re-assemble.

Did this without work shop manual. (Not telling you how to suck eggs but) As long as you think about what you're doing lay whatever you dismantle in chronological order on a clean rag.

If stuck, step back, have a beer & a fag......have a think and some *&^%$£"£***!!!!!!, carry on  :hysterical:

Simpellls  :icon_biggrin:

only thing to add is you need to push the pistons all the way in and take the calliper support
bracket off to get the disc off. only two bolts and they shouldn't be too tight!
when you take the wheel off it will be clear what needs to be done.
