Title: some times not starting

Hi all
sometimes my jeep wont start. I can hear a relay clicking when the key is fully turned but the engine wont turn over. I have tried shorting the solenoid terminal to the started motor terminal and this starts the engine fine so i dont think the motor is faulty.
Is there a safety switch on the auto box that would stop the starter motor cranking?
