-
i fookin cant wait
-
Sooooo who's gonna be there?
Are we gonna have enough to get through, a bottle of Poteen and Fire Water around the Bonfire?
-
i fookin cant wait
Nor me, I've been waiting for 18 months, so this week I shall be mostly assemblin a CJ3B body tub from individual panels. A big thanks to Kev for sourcing me a spot welder so I can do the job proper.
Cheapfest last year was my original goal for a re-assembled and running Jeep but alas an illness of stupid proportions stopped me from doin anything 'cept breathin for the early part of 2010. This last 12 months has seen a slow return to functionality and I can now do stuff like I used to.
So, now I'm back on track, 'Matilda' will be cruising the trails and will be again, surprising a few doubters at the mighty Cheapfest 2011 :003:
-
omg Matilda!
new screen as well
great name....
i really cant wait, no loopyjuice but nevermind
good company :icon_biggrin:

illicit alcohol, talking shit, general piss taking, setting fire too a chunk of forrest, more drinking, getting ideas from others trucks and occasionally a bit of off roading
-
illicit alcohol, talking shit, general piss taking, setting fire too a chunk of forrest, more drinking, getting ideas from others trucks and occasionally a bit of off roading
sounds promising.... are there stands and stuff? does one need to have a good bit of wedge in the ole skyrocket?
-
there is one tap of running water we share with the sheep, other than that if you don't bring it with you, you go without. some one does a beer run into town and the odd trip to a local take out and there may be a few bits of birtys stuff.
but really all you need to bring is beer, fuel and something to eat
there is usually a bit of pre arraigned exchanging of parts too

Cool, will it be possible to turn up on the Friday the 9inth avo?
yes but no offroading till saturday
-
People turning up on the Friday, do we have to be there at a certain time for someone to open the gate?
-
Theres usually someone on site from midweek,as we start setting up,so i imagine anytime Friday is ok
-
Theres usually someone on site from midweek,as we start setting up,so i imagine anytime Friday is ok
yep :greggmo:
-
As my wife puts it, we spend more time talking and taking the mick out of people than we do offroading
and common sense comes into play.....if you dont like it dont drink it !
-
Hi Guy s what happens at cheapest ? what's the turn out ? Can we camp ? And are there likely to be any cj 5-7-8 ?
-
Its a get together of mainly Jeep owners, with a few honourary other marque members basically having a good weekend of offroading, getting pissed and having a laugh though not at the same time of course as no drink driving allowed. Its camping for all, apart from the wimps that stay in nearby B+Bs and yes should be all Jeeps including older CJs,though perhaps sadly,no 8`s this time
-
Hi Guy s what happens at cheapest ? what's the turn out ? Can we camp ? And are there likely to be any cj 5-7-8 ?
You have missed out the cj6 on your list :icon_rolleyes:
-
Ah yes Cj 6 s I apologise, Will there be off roading on Saturday morning ? I ve just shipped in a cj 5 from South Carolina and would like to give it a bit of a stretch and meet other owners etc, I have to be out of there by 2-3 pm on Sat ? Sound like a fair rabble so I m gutted to be missing the night of it all !
-
off roading starts about 10am usually, and typically stops around 5 ish there may be a guided night run saturday that could result in explosives (fireworks really but we let Steve think he is blowing stuff up)
there are punches too, other than that it's go where you want
-
that could result in explosives (fireworks really but we let Steve think he is blowing stuff up)
works for me :greggmo:

coming together slowly, ZJ now seems OK, not tried towing with the rebuilt axle yet but fingers crossed. Dan just got himself a new tent, a 5m bell, so thats ticked off the list, and will have a CJ on tow, if Tonka not ready we will bring lil' yella, either way we will be froading

I cant find a supplier, can you?

or has anyone else got any ideas?
-
or has anyone else got any ideas?
1: buy a birtys t -shirt
2: buy another birtys t-shirt
3: buy a pair of scissors
4: use item 3 to cut out the pictures from items 1 + 2
5: find a stick and attach the bits you have just cut out to it.
For a larger flag buy larger t-shirts and for a smaller flag buy smaller t shirts, combine the two for a politically correct "flag with disabilities"
job done .....

Also big thanks to those who gave there time to initially show us round the course and teach a few off roading techniques.

:greggmo:
Im now going to pass you over to someone who had there first experience of Cheapfest.
Hi Birtys,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Must begin by saying a mega huge thank you to you all for making me feel so :welcome: into your club.
I had an amazing time, best ever, even with the wind and rain...............but the icing on the cake was getting well and truly Tanked in mud. (sure there will be photos posted in due course} Absolutely fantastic time going round the course with you Tank, so sending you a huge thank you for making my first Cheapfest so memorable, still laughing about it now. :1rij:
As for you Ken, your 4 fruits of the day should have been 5 for health reasons, but even the 4 alone sent my legs platting back to the tent, without Mick as support, think i would have fallen flat on my face and spent the night where landing.
Again to you all a big heartfelt thank you. See you all soon.
Ta ta for now.......................Manda x
