Hi,
New member as a mate recommended this site.
I have a 2001 4.0 WJ Grand Cherokee that has just developed a loud rattle on the mid to top of the engine. It started out as a light tappet sound when cold, but after a 150 mile trip on the motorway yesterday developed into a expensive sounding noise. It seems to be more on the fuel side of the engine if that makes sense. I am not from the Rochdale area and relatively new to Jeeps. Does anyone have any ideas or now of anyone in a 15 mile radius that may know what they are doing with this straight six? The oil pressure is really good (3.0 at idle when hot). It does have a CLS gas conversion on it if this is could be an issue. Any help appreciated.

It's possible you have cracked the exhaust manifold - common fault look at this first.

4l WJs tend not to do it as they are 2 piece manifolds, you may get lucky though. LPG won't be your issue. Wait till morning and see if you can see any exhaust leak in the cold air
