Golf balls have been well documented to cause major carcass failures. Dynabeads are just stupidly expensive. I use 600g of premium BB pellets in the Mog tyres( 405/70/20) and they work beautifully.
-
Do you need to take the tyre off to put these bb in ....or can you just blast em in with a shotgun...? :017:
-
weird, never even heard of that, but im all for givin summink stoopid a go next time i change tyres
-
I run BB pellets in my mudzillas as could not get them balaanced as needed 800gms weight on the rims, about 600gms of BB sorted them
I used .2gm BB's - though next time I'd use more lower grade ones as worked out the big ribs in these tyres stop them moving about as much as they should.
But when you stop it sounds a bit like air brakes as the pellets hit the rim as they fall down
-
I think the dynabeads can be fitted through a valve stem, or maybe it is their own custom valve stem, which would require at least breaking the bead and sort of defeats the point. I just broke the bead off the Mog tyres and poured them in, but I had 3000x0.2g to lob in. I think I did all 4 tyres for about £20 or so.
May not be everyones cuppa, but it certainly worked for me.
I think Dynabead official site has a chart that lists the recommended weight of beads for a given tyre size
I found it.

Road Legal in UK/EU? (Dyna Beads or BB pellets)
As for golf balls, well, only in America :greggmo:

Why wouldn't it be? I am sure somebody will pipe up that they cannot find a piece of H&S bullshit or legislation to say it won't kill you on a Tuesday, but then they may well be too busy reading the Daily Wail!
-
I ran Dynabeads in my 33's and thought they were great. No problems whatsoever. :icon_super:
-
I would've thought there was a possibility that long term in a daily driver all that stuff trundling away inside would start to wear the inside of the tyre carcass.
-
probably a silly question but how would plod know if you had golf balls, BBs or girbals in your tyres?

Didn't seem to be happening. Everything is soo smooth that it just moves about as it needs to with negligible friction. When I changed tyres again, they had done 12k miles with no internal wear, and the BBs were still their original white colour and not marked with rubber.

Not until the forensic examination after the fatal crash :003:
-
would they not stay static when in motion due to centreefoogal whatsit
-
Once up to speed I would guess so
-
would water with anti freeze not work far better we used to use balasted tyres years a go for awdc events
-

they do - they drop when speed drops to below about 10mph
similar action to balancing powders etc.
did wonder about water :017:
-
They use water to add weight to the vehicle!!!
-
indeed thats what we did its common with plant but would a litre of water not work the same ?
-
NO..
-
NO..
Agreed.
-
i dont doubt you for a moment but i dont understand why not the dyna beads work so well due to there fluid like adility to sread in the tyre so wy would fluid itself no work it would not lye in the bottom as you might think
-
o i am not being awkward genuinely curiuos
-
I am told you can also use golf balls for whacking with a stick in order to get em to go down a small hole in the lawn...
Whatever next...???

They're still at it in Afghanistan. All that trouble over a supply of Helmands mayonnaise.
