Title: rain sensing wipers 2002 crd grand
Post by: cinimod on December 28, 2010, 10:28:50 PM
my rain sensing wipers appear to have stopped being rain sensitive :icon_sad:
they come on for 1 wipe when you move the switch but then nothing!
have to keep flicking the switch or clicking it round to manual wipe at medium speed which is a pain when its only light rain.
any ideas any one?

I was once told by a windscreen fitter that one of the main reasons for rain sensors to quit was "road tan".
Which to us normal folk is what they call the continual pitting the screen gets from sand, grit, stones etc.
So the next question i suppose is do you have an excessivly pitted screen and did it go bust gradually or suddenly?
If it went suddenly i recon the bloke was trying to con me!

Have only owned for about a month so suspect never worked properly, however wriggled cover on inside of screen last night and started working again,so will have to remove cover and investigate, hopefully loose connection.

That sounds promising.
Don't get too rough with those little led looking efforts in the sensor unit, either the connectors fall off or the wires break just by looking too hard at 'em.
Gently does it and the jobs a good'un!

This  is certainly the case with Audi's but if the screen has been changed then the sensor also needs changing. Check to see if it's the original screen, if it's not the. Change the sensor
