Title: Serpentine belt help
Post by: funkyboogalooo on January 09, 2011, 04:34:46 PM
Bit of a disastrous day today, loads of wasted time.  Was all set to service the TJ and it was one thing after another.  Dropped the oil removed the filter to find on opening the new filter box it was the wrong filter in the right box.  Sunday PM nothing open had to re-use old filter, twat.
Then removed the serpentine belt (and a lot of knuckle skin on the fan blade) to change it as its real tired and low and behold the new one was the wrong length (toos short) :violence:
So heres the rub.  When I went to the factors and gave him the reg number he said I had 2 options for the belt, With A/C and without.  Seeing as I dont have A/C I said "i'll have the without.
Having now looked at some of the links on here and also autodata the lay out of pulleys on mine doesn't look like either oprion with or without A/C?
Can anyone help please?

1998 Wrangler Sahara TJ without A/C

Cheers

Mike

just measure the old one and count the peaks on the belt and buy the closest they have.
thats how i did my 3.1td as no one seemed to know what lengths of belt it uses!

I think the correct length for a 97-99 RHD 4.0 is 2550. Belt routing isn't even shown in the FSM so here's one I prepared earlier for somebody on ausjeepoffroad.com
