Title: No 4 piston removal 2.5TD info required please...
Post by: rekab69 on January 27, 2011, 05:37:23 PM
Hi All,

I need to remove No 4 piston on my 2.5TD just to check the ring piston / rings etc..

a. Do I have to remove the complete sump or just the lower plate?
b. Can I reuse the big end bolts?
c. Torque settings for big end bolt?
d. End gap clearances.
e. Why am I doing this....?

Cheers

Dave..

drop the sump and it gives you more room

replace big end bolts with new ones,  didn't do this and it cost me and engine

torques are in the manual if you have one

I have an unused Jeep VM Diesel Cherokee XJ repair manual which I keep meaning to put on ebay (seem to be about £20), and I also have a copy of the 2000XJ service manual on disk, including the extra chapters regarding the diesel engine.
