Title: XJ windows not working
Post by: loosenup on January 28, 2011, 07:21:10 AM
Hi Guys
I have an xj 2000 orvis.
The windows have decided not to work anymore ( in the up position fortunately)
The mirrors still work so checking the listing of fuses the same fuse controls the windows as well as the mirrors.. so that should be ok.
I was thinking it may be a relay , but I can not find out where it is.I would be grateful if someone could point me to it .
Is there a reset switch in case of a jam that may have popped out ?
thanks in advance
Phill

Probably a broken wire in the door harness.

Hi Mike
Looks like you could be right .. got in jeep earlier and windows worked.. then later not .. will investigate further over weekend.

Thanks
Phill

Mine was the switch panel in the drivers door

Hi Mike
You were right .. but what a right bugger to find and repair.. turned out there was no less than four broken wires  and 2 on the way .
After dismantling everything and then removing harness from door I managed to repair and all is well again .
Cheers
