Title: temp guage going up and down

my temp guage started going up and down in november from hi 90ts to about 110deg.
I was loosing coolent and found the rad was leaking, so fiitted a new one and changed the thermostate at the same time.

no more leaks, coolent level has stayed the same. The temp is still going up and down, but now 60 to 80deg and never gets any hotter.

ive tried squeezing air out of the top pipe and also running the engine with the rad cap off, but it just overflowed.

Any ideas please?

Is the viscous coupling on the cooling fan siezed solid?

i can spin the fan by hand without turning the belt, if thats what you mean'
